Passport translations are deceptively tricky. Most of the bio page is already in English on modern machine-readable passports — but USCIS, U.S. universities, and DMVs frequently want the entry/exit stamps, visa pages, or older passports fully translated, especially when proving lawful presence or continuous residence.
We translate the bio page, every stamp, and any visa endorsements — exactly what each agency needs and nothing more, so you don't pay to translate blank pages.
What USCIS uses it for
I-485 (proving lawful entry), N-400 (continuous residence and physical presence calculations), I-589 asylum (entry history), and DMV / state ID applications that require translated foreign IDs.
What we translate
- Bio page (when not already in English)
- Entry and exit stamps in chronological order
- U.S. visa stamps and endorsements
- Older or expired passports with prior travel history
- National ID pages, when issued as part of a passport
What USCIS requires for a foreign-language document
- Full English translation
Every word, stamp, seal, and marginal note on the foreign document must be rendered into English — not summarized.
- Signed Certificate of Accuracy
The translator certifies, in writing, that the translation is complete and accurate and that they are competent to translate from the source language to English.
- Original visible alongside translation
USCIS expects the certified English translation to be submitted together with a legible copy of the original foreign-language document.
- Independent translator
The translator cannot be the applicant or beneficiary. Self-translations are routinely rejected, even when accurate.
Why these translations get rejected
Translating stamps with the wrong dates
Many countries write dates as DD-MM-YYYY. Translators who default to U.S. format can swap days and months, creating contradictions with your I-485 timeline.
Skipping illegible stamps
Mark them as '[illegible]' rather than omitting — silent gaps look like missing entries to a USCIS officer reviewing continuous residence.
